LYRICS

EASTERN MUD TURTLE: Will you look at that? They didn’t even notice me. Just sitting here on my rock. Just sitting here on my rock by the pond. Ignoring the old mud turtle. Just because we’re quiet and peaceful. Our habitat may be simple, but it deserves respect, too. My home in the mud by the pond. I can go in for a swim whenever I want. Or just hang out here, sunbathing on the shore all day long. And the mud! It’s perfect for digging for the winter hibernation. I just love my home in the mud by the pond.
EASTERN MUD TURTLE (cont'd):

THE MOSQUITOS DART AROUND THE POND
    THE BEAVERS BUILD THEIR MOUND
THE FISH, THEY SWIM IN SCHOOLS
    EVEN THE ALGAE GETS AROUND

THOUGH OUR LIFE ON THE POND IS SLUGGISH
    AND ALSO RATHER BUGGISH
    IT MAY SEEM QUITE BIZARRE
THAT WE LIKE THINGS JUST THE WAY THEY ARE.

    PLEASE, WE'RE EASTERN MUD TURTLES
    JEEZ, LOUISE, WE'RE MUD TURTLES

    WE'RE NOT TOO FAST
    BUT WE'RE BUILT TO LAST
    FROM WINTER TO SPRING,
    THE MUD TURTLES SING...

DOO, DOO, DOO, DOO, DOO, DOO, DOO...
DOO, DOO, DOO, DOO, DOO, DOO, DOO...

    WE HIDE IN OUR SHELLS
    WHEN NATURE IMPELS
YOU SEE WE'RE EASTERN MUD TURTLES

    WE CAN'T COMPLAIN
    SO WE SING THIS REFRAIN
AT LEAST WE'RE EASTERN MUD TURTLES
AT LEAST WE'RE EASTERN MUD TURTLES
